"Because sometimes ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX NEWS, MSNBC, CNN, HEADLINE NEWS, CSPAN, and CSPAN 2 just aren't enough... "

Man, do I have it bad for Jon Stewart. And Stephen Colbert, for that matter.
Even though they're both so fucking old.

Just Before the Black

I was surprised by how much I liked the short story Just Before the Black, mostly because of the author: James Franco. If you're anything like me, you're probably feeling a little skeptical right now. To be honest, he just doesn't seem the type. Maybe I'm relying far too much on stereotypes, but I wouldn't expect this from the kind of actor and celebrity that Franco is. Granted, the story is by no means classical; it revolves around a jaded, reckless and seemingly depressed teenager who is high for most of the tale. Maybe I've just been underestimating him. After all, I liked Milk, and recently he's starred as Ginsberg (likely my favorite poet ever) in Howl, a film I'm yet to see but that received many positive reviews.

Regardless, Just Before the Black is a very, very good piece, one that I enjoyed immensely. I'm glad I decided to set aside any reservations I had about the author and read it with an open mind, and I'd certainly recommend anyone else to do the same.

Photographs of the Soviet Army in WWII

These are really neat. So dynamic.
Note the Russian soldiers shaking hands with the Americans in the first photo (and, later, standing over a crashed Nazi plane).

About This Blog.

Every time I create a blog, I end up basing it around one idea: a blog solely for poetry, or politics, or music... I never just post whatever comes to me - whatever I am thinking of - and, subsequently, I always fail to maintain the blog. My focus shifts and I fail to upkeep posting. Maybe for a couple of weeks I'll continue to write, but it's never long before I'll want to start a new project. Frankly put, I get bored.

With this blog, that's what I hope to avoid. No doubt, the content of this blog will varied, not only in concern of interests but also in the format of posts, including unbiased information, general recommendation, opinionated articles and personal relations. It may very well just be my favourite quotations, if that's what I feel like sharing.

So, if you're wondering if this blog is going to pertain to your interests, I can honestly say I don't know. I can tell you that I'm an agnostic atheist, a leftist (although neither a Liberal nor Democrat), a vegan, a Canadian and a 16-year-old girl. I particularly love music and literature (a multitude of genres in both cases), and I also am interested in politics, history, art and science. If any of that sounds appealing to you, feel free to browse. If that all sounds banal and redundant, please browse anyways.

I would say "you never know", except that you actually do sometimes.

In any case, enjoy.
